Stations that open in turn
On some machines the stations open one after another, and a station behind a shutter or a glass dome stays shut until another one is solved. What one station gives up is often what the last one needs.
Each level is a brass machine on a table with mechanisms built into it. Turn the wheels, drag the gears, pull the levers, and work out from what moves what the thing wants from you.
Drag empty space to walk the camera round the table. Each machine has several stations on it, and some of them are shut behind a shutter or a glass dome until another one is solved.
Tap a mechanism to move in and work it. Pinch or scroll out to step back and look at the whole thing again.
Drag rings, wheels, gears and weights. Tap levers, mirrors and buttons. When a station is solved, the camera moves on to the next one that is open.
Solve every station and the machine does what it was built for. That unlocks the next one.

All at once
On other machines every station is open from the start and none of them can be finished alone. Each one wants something another station gives you: a tool, a key, water, steam or a card.
Latchwork is free and runs in a browser tab, on a desktop or a phone.
No account, no advertising, nothing to buy. The levels you have unlocked, the hint counts and the sound setting are kept in the browser you played in and go no further. It needs WebGL, and the start screen says so if your browser has none.
